| Tuition Assistance
The Board of Directors has recently established a Tuition Assistance Fund (savings account), into which tax-deductible gifts may be designated. Parents in need of tuition assistance must complete and submit a Tuition Assistance Application and copies of the previous year’s tax forms to the CCS Office in order to be considered during the review process.
Tuition assistance application forms for the upcoming school year will be available from the CCS Office beginning May 1. Parents of returning students must submit completed forms with attached proof of income for review to the CCS Secretary by June 15. Parents of new students must submit completed forms with attached proof of income for review to the CCS Secretary by July 15. The Secretary will log and prepare each application for submission to the Tuition Assistance Sub-Committee of the Policies and Procedures Committee of the Board of Directors by July 16. Preparation will include number coding the application and presenting all pertinent information in a confidential matter.
The Policies and Procedures Committee will evaluate all tuition assistance applications for the upcoming school year and will decide upon grants by July 25. A letter from the sub-committee will be sent by July 25 to each family that has applied for tuition assistance, notifying the family in regard to the Committee’s decision to grant or to not grant tuition assistance, the amount of tuition assistance granted, and the remaining tuition due from the family (this amount will be stated as an annual amount as well as a monthly amount). If tuition assistance is granted, the letter will also contain a contractual statement that will require parental signatures and submission to the CCS Office to validate the grant. A photocopy of the signed letter will then be returned to the family as a record of the grant.
All tuition assistance grants are subject to amendment or cancellation should any pertinent change occur in the family’s situation (i.e., addition/removal of student to/from CCS, increase/decrease in household finances, etc.). It is the family’s responsibility to bring any such changes to the attention of the CCS Administrator. The Administrator will then present the specific changes to the Tuition Assistance Sub-Committee for immediate review. If the tuition assistance grant is amended or cancelled because of the change, the family will be issued another letter from the Committee regarding the amendment or cancellation of the tuition assistance grant. The letter will require parental signatures and submission to the CCS Office to validate the change in tuition assistance. A photocopy of the signed letter will then be returned to the family as a record of the change in the grant.
The decision to enroll a child in private school involves commitment and sacrifice on the part of the family. The Board of Directors of Community Christian School is unable to award 100 percent tuition assistance to any family. In fact, the CCS budget already provides approximately 50 percent tuition assistance to each student as tuition rates cover less than 50 percent of the cost to educate each child enrolled at CCS. Grants will be given based upon available classroom spaces, available funding, and a family’s financial status. Satisfactory academic performance and conduct are also conditions, but high scholastic achievement is not a prerequisite.
Information requested on the tuition assistance application is considered confidential and is for use by only the Tuition Assistance Sub-Committee, the Policies and Procedures Committee, the CCS Administrator, and the CCS Secretary.
Tuition assistance applications received after the annual June 15 (returning students) or July 15 (new students) deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Depending on funding available, these applications may or may not be reviewed. Hence, it is extremely important to apply for tuition assistance prior to June 15 th (returning students) or July 15 th (new students) each year your child is enrolled at Community Christian School. |
