Kindergarten Program

Entering kindergarten is the important beginning of a child's school journey; this beginning lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning, developing personal self-esteem, and forming new relationships. The CCS Kindergarten program offers a wide range of learning experiences through the use of a variety of activities and materials.

The Kindergarten class is staffed with a certified teacher and an assistant to ensure that each child receives the personal attention he requires. The Kindergarten faculty strives to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of each student by providing an exciting and well-rounded learning environment consisting of large and small group activities, personal one-on-one assistance and attention, and independent learning times.

Reading readiness, phonics, pre-handwriting, handwriting, language, and number concepts are taught daily in a variety of ways, including hands-on concrete activities, creative exploration, and practice through drill. Rounding out the academic program are daily lessons in science, social studies, and history. Christian character qualities such as self-control, obedience, patience, honesty, and courtesy are taught in daily Bible studies and weekly Chapel services and are reinforced throughout each day. Kindergarten students participate in the CCS related arts instruction by attending Physical Education class three times per week, Spanish class two times per week, Computer class one time per week, and Art class one time per week. Music is an important part of Kindergarten class and is utilized to teach various concepts within the daily academic routine and is a very important part of the weekly Chapel service.

Elementary Program - Grades One Through Five

The elementary grades are vital for building a strong spiritual sensitivity, a firm academic foundation, and a sense of sharing and teamwork in students. The elementary faculty strives to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of each student by providing an exciting and well-rounded learning environment consisting of large and small group activities, personal one-on-one assistance and attention, and independent learning times. Faculty members utilize a variety of appropriate instructional tools to encourage an increasing independence in learning. The development of study skills and a love for reading take on special importance during these formative years.

Academic subjects taught include reading, language arts, spelling, mathematics, science, social studies, and history. Christian character qualities are taught in daily Bible studies and weekly Chapel services and are reinforced throughout each day. Community services such as Adopt-a-Highway, nursing home partnership, and Operation Christmas Child are built into the CCS elementary program to demonstrate and encourage servanthood among the body of believers in Christ.

Middle School Program – Grades Six and Seven

During the early preteen and teen years, young people see some of the most dramatic personal changes they will ever experience. These changes affect the student spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and mentally. The CCS staff assists these young people by focusing on many different curricular and extracurricular areas: spiritual training, creative expression of ideas in writing and speech, personal organizational skills, challenging academic learning, hands-on learning experiences, and positive peer relationships, all accomplished through an environment of structure and discipline. The leadership and staff continually seek God’s leading in fulfilling each of these areas while keeping in mind that each child is uniquely created by God and has individual needs.
