The educational philosophy of Community Christian School is based upon the tenets of our interdenominational Christian faith.
Students attending Community Christian School are taught spiritually, socially, and academically from a Christian worldview, emphasizing God’s creation and His divine plan for all of humankind. The Bible is quoted in every subject taught at CCS because the Bible explains God’s world, how it works, why it works the way it does, and how God wants us to live in this world. Within His Word, God shares His creation, His design, and His plan for this world so that we may see that He is in control and that He is the ultimate caretaker. He shares that we are made in His image and that we are made for His pleasure. His flawless and sophisticated design of our bodies, minds, and souls is highly evidenced in His Word and is therefore taught in our classrooms. Our abilities to learn, think, and communicate are gifts from Him to us, His beloved children. He wishes for us to use those gifts to glorify Him.
We believe it is our responsibility at CCS to teach children how to learn, think, and communicate to glorify the Lord in all aspects of their lives. Our faculty and staff are whole-heartedly committed to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and feel His call upon their lives to reach each student and family member with the power of the Gospel and with nurturing and maturing that only the study of God’s Word can provide.
Within His Word, God shares rules of moral conduct, values, and virtues so that we might live as peaceably and healthy as possible. We teach His plan for this world and how He wants us to live because His way encourages health, well-being, peacefulness, and above all, hope. The Bible is our ultimate guideline for all of our behaviors. Obedience to Its commands leads to a joyful and fulfilling life; disobedience to Its commands leads to a unhappy and destructive life. God does not share His commands so that He can control us; rather He tells and shows us how to live so that we are happy and fulfilled and He is glorified.
Each student, faculty member, staff member, family member, and community supporter of CCS is seen as a unique creation of the Lord and is valued for his gifts and talents as bestowed from the Lord and the Holy Spirit. As each person accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and receives the free gift of salvation as only He can provide, he is ushered into the Body of Christ and gifted from the Holy Spirit. Because these gifts are bestowed from the Holy Spirit, they are revered and treasured and developed carefully within CCS. Adults and children are treated with love and respect. All who are employed or volunteer for any job, large or small, at CCS are expected to model themselves after Jesus Christ in their behaviors and in their words. Students are taught about Jesus Christ and encouraged to model themselves after Him in their behaviors and in their words.
We fully acknowledge that we all are sinners but we know that we can be saved from the punishment of those sins if we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. He died on the cross at Calvary as punishment for the sins of every human being that has walked, is walking, or will ever walk the face of the earth. God’s plan of salvation will be shared with students and all will be invited to accept Him. If a decision is made for Jesus, notice of this miracle will be sent home to parents/guardians.
Because we are all sinners, we do not sit in judgment of others’ sins; rather we, as members of the Body of Christ with the Holy Spirit’s leading, are obligated to encourage and support all persons to live in obedience to God’s Word. Behaviors that are specifically regarded in the Bible as destructive, to the person, to his loved ones, and/or to those whose lives are affected by his choices, cannot be tolerated at CCS. Individuals and families searching for truth, love, and support will be shown the Only Way, Truth, and Life, in the salvation that only accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can provide. He is the only path that leads to the Father and to eternal life in Heaven.
We fully acknowledge that the United States of America was founded upon these same Christian beliefs and principles and that many of our legal documents were fashioned after Biblical statements. We value our lives and our liberties in this country and strive to share our Christian and patriotic heritage with our students. At the same time, we strive to promote and fulfill the Great Commission assigned by Jesus to His followers by studying other countries, their cultures, and their needs. We encourage service to our fellow man by participating in local outreach opportunities and international mission opportunities. Students are encouraged to identify the blessings in their own lives as well as the gifts and talents they have been given and to look for opportunities to share each with God’s peoples.
CCS is committed to the teaching of truth in the fullness of a loving spirit. CCS exists to support the followers of Jesus Christ and to share the Gospel with those who may not have heard It or understood It before. Because we are a school, our main focus is and will always remain on our students. We fully realize however, that as we partner alongside parents and local Christian churches in raising these young people to love the Lord Jesus Christ whole-heartedly, to have a Christian worldview, to choose a Christian lifestyle, to develop Godly character, and to strive for academic excellence, that these same parents and churches have the potential to further mature in the Lord. It is evidenced daily at CCS that our students are not the only ones to which CCS is a true blessing from the Lord, but to all who work, volunteer, or visit our wonderful school. The Spirit of the Lord is upon CCS and blesses all who are brought here to serve or to be served through its mission.
